Overall, our gang of savvy geniuses managed their teams to a positive difference of three games over real-life. Kudos for us! What did we learn? It's hard to say, based only on one season, but an obvious answer would be that the combination of our five-person draft and the mystery-card format might serve to level things out, putting less distance between strongest and weakest.

In the time between now and the beginning of the playoffs on Monday, I'll post some stuff to keep interest high. The first thing will be the selection of our Manager of the Year. Initially I thought it would be the team that makes the biggest improvement from actual record to strat. Fred, that would have been you, and I hope you'll forgive my sudden change in direction. What we'll do this year and each year is a managers' vote. Look for more in an email coming your way. I'd like to get the vote done before the playoffs start.

No need to apologize Paul. I don't think losing 100 games and finishing dead last in the league should be awarded with Manager of the Year. Besides, I had a lot of room for improvement, and Casey would have killed someone (Marvelous Marv? Choo Choo Coleman?) to be able to have a Gold Glove shortstop like Luis Aparicio and a 1 in center like Jim Landis on his squad, not to mention having good pitchers like Kaat, Herbert, Johnson, Roland and Fisher. All this gave me an edge over the Old Professor.
